Alberta With Hat

Alberta Jones was an African-American attorney and civil rights icon. She was one of the first African-American women to pass the Kentucky bar and the first woman appointed city attorney in Jefferson County. She was brutally murdered by an unknown person in 1965.
I greatly admire how much effort went into accomplishing all that she accomplished by the time she was murdered at age 35 in 1965, but I am appalled at how little effort went into trying to find her killer or killers. This piece was painted to honor her memory and to try to bring her story back into the light.
