Description of Blue Christmas
In the early 90’s when her children were still young Christmas Eve night was her time. She would stay up late doing all the last minute gift-wrapping and prepping the house for the following morning. Excited children would wake up early on Christmas morning and she would drag herself out of bed to watch them enjoy their morning.
After breakfast everyone had only a few minutes to enjoy their gifts, then it was time to get dressed and head over to Grandma’s house for the next celebration. Another exchange of gifts, this time with the extended family dominated the day. That, and the food and snacks that were laid out on trays the entire length of the large room.
By mid-afternoon, everyone’s stomach was full, the excitement had waned, and exhaustion took over. Of course, that was always when someone decided to take her picture to commemorate the day.
