My Angels

Christmas of 1988 was a rough holiday. I had gone through a difficult divorce and there wasn’t a lot of money for presents. What money I had I wanted to focus on gifts for my three girls, ages 5, 7, & 9. I never wanted them to feel lack because their parents were divorced.
I decided for my extended family all I could afford was photographs of my daughters. I had a friend come take a series of photographs of me and my girls. She did a superb job of capturing each girls’ personality and their little girl sweetness all at the same time.
Whenever I look at the photograph I used as a reference for this painting, I remember that Christmas and think of how we all went on to thrive in our own ways.
