Southside Swagger

Old pictures of people radiating attitude fascinate me. Some of them just beg to be painted. These boys demanded it.

The original photograh was of five boys arranged on what looks like a Packard. They were all in their Sunday best, but the faces of these two drew me in.

This piece is based on a photograph taken in Southside Chicago in 1941.
