Wolf, A Warrior

The Crow Nation, whose people call themselves the Apsáalooke (meaning “children of the large-beaked bird”), possess a deeply rich history and vibrant ongoing culture centered in the Northern Plains. The English name “Crow” originated from a French mistranslation of their name.

Through a combination of treaties, forced removal, warfare and government land policies they lost much of their land and autonomy. However, their native language is still being taught on the Crow reservations, and they are committed preserving as much of their native culture as possible.
