Naughty & Nice

Children who were small enough to pass under an archway in Bow East London, qualified for a weekly parcel of toys for a farthing. These bundles quickly became known as Farthing Bundles.

These four girls, photographed in 1939, all appear to have different reactions to receiving their bundles, but I love the mix of emotions.
