False Modesty

Each generation likes to think that they invented sex and sexy dressing. Not only is that false, it’s totally ludicrous. A century ago was the Roaring 20’s…and they were roaring!
My reference photo for this painting was a still of Wanda Stevenson, one of the original Ziegfeld Follies, taken in 1928. Even though she has covered all her spicy parts, every person who has seen the photo and the painting has gasped at the flat out provocativeness of her outfit and pose.
